Statnett is responsible for planning and applying to implement the projects we believe are beneficial to society.
A normal licence process starts with a planning proposal from Statnett to the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE), which is submitted for a public consultation procedure. In the next phase, Statnett submits a licence application to the NVE, which, after public consultation procedures, submits its recommendation to the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy (MPE). Any appeals from affected parties are considered by the NVE and submitted to MPE which decides the appeal. The final decision is made by the King in Council.
The project has now entered the construction phase. This phase may include clearing of forest, construction and improvement of new and existing roads, establishing helicopter loading areas and installation sites for winches and line spools, pouring of concrete foundations, installing pylons and installing/pulling lines.
To inform about the work to be done public meetings will be held.
